I’m a working photographer in Tucson, Arizona. MFA-trained, CPP-certified, twenty years in the field. I photograph executives who need headshots that actually look like them and pets whose owners want something better than a smartphone snapshot. I’ve been volunteering with animal rescue organizations for most of those twenty years. I have two published books. I’m not a coach who stopped shooting to sell courses.
I’m also someone who uses AI tools every day in my photography business — for research, for drafting, for workflow, for strategy — and who has developed a specific methodology for doing that without losing what makes the work worth doing in the first place.
That’s what this newsletter is about.
What you’ll find here
This is a peer-to-peer resource for photographers who are trying to figure out how AI fits into a real photography business — not a theoretical one, not a scaled content operation, but the kind of business where you actually show up and make photographs for clients who pay you.
I write about what’s working, what isn’t, and why. Business strategy, content workflows, positioning, client psychology, the long game. The values questions that turn out to have business implications. All of it filtered through the experience of someone still doing the work.
Free subscribers get the thinking. Paid subscribers get the methodology.
Free vs. paid
The free tier covers identity, career narrative, and the ideas that shape how I approach this work. That’s available to everyone.
The paid tier is where I publish specific AI workflows, systems, and the operational detail behind what I do. I have local competitors I respect and like personally. I’m not going to hand them my playbook for free. If you’re here to learn rather than to copy, the paid tier is where the real work lives.
Who this is for
Photographers who are serious about building a sustainable business and want to think carefully about where AI fits into that. People who are skeptical of AI hype and also skeptical of AI panic. Anyone who finds themselves wondering whether the tools are serving the work or the other way around.
